CBC's The Game is a live trivia experience built around Canada's Olympic coverage. Presented by BetRivers, it ran nightly throughout Paris 2024 and returned for Milano Cortina 2026 — putting Olympic knowledge to the test across seventeen nights, twelve questions at a time, with speed-based scoring and nightly prizes. At Reflektor Digital, I led the design of the experience across both editions, directing UX, 3D design and motion.

The brief was to create something that felt live and high-stakes — not a static quiz, but an event Canadians would come back to every night. The experience had to sit seamlessly within CBC's broadcast ecosystem while standing on its own as an interactive product, balancing BetRivers' brand presence without overshadowing the Olympic context. It also needed to work across two very different Games: the energy of Paris 2024 and the alpine setting of Milano Cortina 2026.

The design had to carry the tension and rhythm of live sport — fast, visual, immediate — while remaining accessible to a broad Canadian audience tuning in alongside the broadcast.

The Game ran across both Olympic editions without missing a night — Paris 2024 and seventeen consecutive nights at Milano Cortina 2026, with over 200 trivia questions across the two Games. The numbers spoke for themselves: 11,000+ registrants, 77% of players returning night after night, over one million video views, and 1.2 million earned social impressions. A design that had to feel live and high-stakes every single evening — and kept people coming back to prove it.
